Heather Wojcik obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from Dalhousie University and her Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Victoria. After graduating law school in 2010, she completed her articles at a national law firm and was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 2011.

Heather’s career has included litigation and advisory work in family, civil, administrative, and anti-poverty law, as well as mentoring lawyers and law students across BC. Before joining Saltwater Law, Heather served in a senior leadership and staff lawyer role at a province-wide legal nonprofit, where she oversaw legal services across BC, built partnerships between the private bar and community organizations, and represented low- and modest-income clients in their family law matters. She has acted as counsel in precedent-setting family law matters, including one of the first cases in Canada to legally recognize a third parent in a polyamorous family.

Heather brings a trauma-informed, child-centred approach to her legal practice. She has extensive experience working with women and gender-diverse individuals who have experienced family violence, and she is committed to providing empathetic, skilled advocacy at every step of her client’s legal journey. Whenever possible, she uses practical approaches such as negotiation and mediation to support her clients to achieve fair, lasting agreements outside of court.

Outside of work, Heather can often be found reading on the couch with her two cats, or biking the seawall and playing on the beach with her (human) child.
